3:55pm – Pokerstars announced today they will be putting the kabosh on poker players from Washington State. Effective as of today, noone residing in Washington State will be allowed to play for real money. Unfortunately I believe Full Tilt Poker will follow the same path. This is due to a legal ruling last week that upheld the illegality of online poker in Washington State. Pretty much all sites have laws against WA but I know Absolutepoker and Bodog still takes WA players.

9:37pm – Egaming Review put out one of the best state of the US online gambling industry article I’ve read in a long time. It covers the current, federal, state and future stances on what is happening in the US with good statistics. Props to a well written article.

7:20pm – There’s got to be a lot of people out there shaking their head right now if they read the recent reports about Harrah’s and their contribution to legalize online poker. While it’s a good thing they spent a couple million this year alone for lobbying, don’t forget, they lobbied to make online poker illegal in the US back in 2006. Now, that much of the competition is wiped out, and they have a poker room up and running everything changes. Harrah’s has no interest in peoples ethics, simply the almighty dollar.

7:20pm – Apparently Tribal Casinos in 30 US states have signed to offer a legal and regulated online poker experience at their casinos. Read the fine print. You can only play online at the casino. Kind of an oxymoron, going to a casino where you can play live, to instead play online? They will allow interstate online poker where you can play against other players at other brick and mortar Tribal Casinos but I can’t see how this will be at all popular, maybe for those who aren’t familiar with playing from your home and are tentative to play against real people at first…

1:10pm – Well not much news lately. A lot of talk has turned to “if” regulation happens to “when” regulation happens. I’m still sticking with my educated guess of 5-10 more years before the “when” comes true. Barney Frank was on Jay Leno spreading the word and got to talk about poker legislation which was cool. Other than that, pretty darn slow on the frontline. Hopefully something’s brewing up behind the scenes.
