Latest news can be found at our stationary US poker webpage.

June 28

9:18pm – J. Todd covers the two important topics this week, the HR5767 and the Antigua and US WTO debates.  He says pretty much everything I feel about this whole week Bachus makes me sick…… lies, lies, lies and more lies.
June 27

2:00am – In case you missed the whole HR 5767 stuff that went down this week, Howard Lederrer does a video interview.  Its a great interview and it saddens me the lies and corruption that goes on in our country.

June 25

5:37pm – The bill HR 5767 which would have stopped the UIGEA regulations from being enforced was defeated today (32-32).  This, at this point in time does not change anything.  The status quo remains the same.  It does not mean everything is fine and dandy though.  Now that this bill was defeated it just adds more fuel to Senator Kyl’s saga to get the UIGEA regulations enforced by the Treasury.  But again, we’re still left with a complicated garbage law that the banks hate…..so I still believe it will be a long process before anything changes as it stands today.  Keep playing, have fun, screw off Mr. Kyl.

June 24

9:16pm – There’s been lots of talk about HR 5767 and most of it is negative.  It seems everyone is hoping for a quick bandaid for the UIGEA but people need to realize this stuff takes a long time, and just because something doesn’t pass this year, there are still years to come to take this bull shit (UIGEA) law out.

June 19

12:20pm – Pokerpages wrote an article today saying that the United States had until June 23 to respond to complaints by the European Union over discriminatory gambling acts (the UIGEA).  Also in related news they also had an article that says the US and Antigua have until tomorrow to resolve their WTO dispute.

Also a PPA member at twoplustwo has posted that HR 5767 (which stops the issuance or the proposed regulations to stop gaming deposits) that this bill has moved to the “mark up” stage and amendments to the legislation has begun.

12:33pm – This is the response I just got from Eurolinx for any of you in the banned states curious about why some Microgaming sites let you play and some don’t.  It’ll be interesting to see how long Microgaming allows the sites not enforcing the 11 state ban to continue.

“We are aware of the fact that some Microgaming poker rooms do not have a ban on the 11 US states. However, we have contacted MG regarding this issue and they have stated that a ban on the 11 states still stands.”

12:15pm – I got an email from a Eurolinx rep today saying that the information regarding their site was incorrect.  While they are on the Microgaming network, they are under an 11 state ban + Utah.  It seems as some Microgaming sites are treating banned states differently.  I’ll have to contact a few other rooms to see how they decide what side of the fence they’re on because nothing seems consistent.

June 15

2:16pm – Wingows poker was purchased by Walker poker this week.  If memory serves me correct Wingows poker was part of that fiasco with Microgaming skins.  Walker poker is under the Merge network (carbonpoker).  There was concerns about Wingows going bankrupt so this acquisition seems like a good thing for anyone who has money in or plays at Wingows.

June 14

1:09am – Here is this weeks brief recap.  On a players note, people in the forums are reporting that Stars and Full Tilt  are finally catching up and sending out withdraw checks in a more timely manner.  (from twoplustwo)

Citadel, an ewallet used for gambling deposits prior to the UIGEA, similar to Neteller, has come to an agreement with the US.  They have agreed to pay $9.1 million in fines.  It’s a slap on the wrist considering they processed over $2 billion in transactions during their time before the UIGEA shut them out of the US.  ALL criminal penalties are going to be waved as well as long as they cooperate with the US Department of Justice. (from Cardplayer)

Meanwhile the European Union says they will move forward and continue to probe the United States involving the protectionist “UIGEA” policies by sending EU officials to the United States to interview Senior members of the Bush admin sometime in July. (from online-casinos)

June 7

12:03pm – J. Todd talks about the Partygaming deals, Sportingbet arrests and information about the EU in his video this week.  He doesnt really get into any news until about half way through.  I will be out for a couple days but I should still have internet access in case something important happens.

June 4

11:18pm – Yet again it’s the dog days of summer.  Not a whole lot going on.  After a slow month in May most poker sites seemed to have picked up some traffic over the past week, maybe because it’s WSOP advertising time.  Even Ultimatebet is seeing above average traffic peaks despite releasing news about the cheating scandals.

I was browsing the PPA site and came across (image removed) this picture of an ad they ran in the USA today.  Not bad, not bad.

June 1

3:32am – Partygaming has been rumored to have resolved disputes with the US Department of Justice.  According to the New York Post a 1 billion dollar fine will be imposed on Partygaming.  This resolution will allow Partygaming executives to travel to and from the United States without prosecution.  Party Poker still won’t be re-entering the US market of course.  Share price of Partygaming was up 10.9 percent because of early rumors of the news on Friday.  I’m sure there’s quite a few stoked Party stockholders who are happy this is overwith.  Partygaming has not commented but I suspect they will on Monday.  Let the mergers and acquisitions begin!
