December 2006 US Poker Updates

Updated Sunday Dec. 31

12:31am – There have been some very shady so called work around sites popping up.  I’m not going to list who they are because this page is not about “workarounds” of the law.  I took a look at a few and let me say….be very careful.  There was one company claiming to be setting up accounts for US players to play at Party Poker etc. and to do so you become a shareholder/employee of his company which made it legal?.  So many scams are going to pop up in the next couple months.

Updated Wednesday Dec. 27

10:47pm – According to Gambling911.com sources there is an online gambling site which will be opening their own bank in Antigua.  What does this mean?  I have no clue but if Gambling911 hinted it to be important I’m sure it is.  The “hint” came inside of a DoylesRoom news article.  A lot of news sites are still hinting that February will be when Neteller and other ewallet providers shut down.

Christmas……no updates

Updated Friday Dec. 22

7:39pm – According to egrmagazine Russia has just passed legislation which will ban online gambling for Russian players.  It’s spreading like a disease!

Updated Thursday Dec. 21

7:46pm – We talked with Colin from Instadebit today and they say nothing has changed with their gambling related transactions.  It continues business as usual until regulations are set and they re-evaluate.

1:28pm – I just heard that Firepay is going to be purchasing back all their shares of stock and going public again.  This is very interesting as we all know by now most of the publicly traded companies were forced to leave the US market.  Could Firepay come back?  Who really knows at this point but it sure is interesting.  Although this is just a wild speculation but this seems like a good deal to me.  Law passes, stock prices plummet, Firepay has opportunity to buy back all shares for extremely cheap then go private again and open back up to the US.  Wild speculation…..

Updated Tuesday Dec. 19

11:54pm – Harrahs will be sold for $16.7 billion dollars.  This was announced after trading closed today.  Apollo Management and Texas Pacific Group are the buyers.

Updated Sunday Dec. 17

7:05pm – This is probably why they wanted to ban internet gambling (removed).  Dutch Boyd has gone insane and is giving poker players a bad wrap.  And by the way….that probably is his own piss that he’s drinking.  Uhhhh

6:49pm – Pokes Poker is expected to make payments to all the players having trouble cashing out within 2 weeks.  It’s about time!

6:45pm – Internet gambling ban in Germany fails for at least another couple months.

Updated Friday Dec. 15

12:30am – Germany is expected to be the next to ban internet gambling to protect what many are calling their monopolistic lottery.

Updated Thursday Dec. 14

9:15am – Here is an interesting tidbit released by Egrmagazine.com.  After the Act passed, Party Poker had an average gross revenue of $920K.  80% of Party Poker’s new signups are now coming from Europe.

Updated Tuesday Dec. 12

3:14pm – Bowmans Poker whom was part of the Tribeca Network and was accepting Americans for quite awhile after the law was signed has joined Bet365.  They will now compete for the UK market on a large scale.

Updated Sunday Dec. 10

1:02pm – We found another good organization today at wpapoker.org.  They’re not quite as big as PPA but still have some very useful collection of articles about the legal side (top right hand corner of homepage).

Updated Friday Dec. 8

6:18pm – No major updates today so far.  Things have definately slowed down for now……

Updated Wednesday Dec. 6

1:04pm – Neteller seems to be on the fritz today.  They’re working on something over there.

12:31pm – Bodog has officially pulled all US based .net advertisements.  They feel the US law is moving in an unfavorable way and will be focusing on European and Asian markets.  Bodog is still taking US players but it looks like they are forecasting the regulation of deposit methods to hit hard once it finally does.  (up to 217 days left)

Updated Tuesday Dec. 5

11:58am - The Las Vegas Sands is now building an online casino for what they say is for the UK market only.  Some analysts say they are doing so to prepare for any changes in the US online gambling law.

Updated Monday Dec. 4

1:54pm – I talked to a manager at Americas Cardroom today and he told me they would not be running Dobrosoft software.  Instead they will have their own software program.  One thing that worries me is player volume when they change over.  He didnt know for sure but it sounded liked they will have the Java software as well.

1:07am – We have given the deposit methods some updates.  Not much has changed with that.

Updated Saturday Dec. 2

4:07pm – Some Bodog.com players are experiencing problems when using Comcast internet provider.  It sounds like this is a port error and not Comcast trying to block service to US players (yet).  Some verizon users have also experienced similar problems.

Updated Friday Dec. 1

3:10pm - Neteller issued a statement regarding their wire transfer difficulties.  Here is the Neteller email.
