Got a scratched iPod? Here are some tips to clear things up.

Scratched iPod Syndrome

Oh the joys of getting a new iPod.  One because it’s new and secondly because you probably got rid of your other one because you couldn’t even see through the screen anymore.  For those fine scratches you can actually buy products made especially for that.  These tips aren’t for those tiny scratches.  If you’re anything like me your scratches look like canyons in your iPod lens.  This is a drastic measure but if done properly can make your iPod lens look like new.  Doing it improperly can severly damage the lens.

Tip 1. You’re going to need a product called Brasso brass polisher.  This is some heavy duty stuff and actually takes off a layer of your iPod lens.  Proceed with CAUTION.

Tip 2. Get an extremely soft cloth.  Don’t use a towel or any abrasive cloth.  Dip the cloth in the Brasso and gently rub the lens.  Rub it with very light pressure until the scratches are removed.  This may take up to 45 minutes of light rubbing.

Tip 3. Once the scratches seem to be gone buff it lightly with a clean soft cloth.  Hopefully the lens looks better than new.
