What Mac compatible poker room will still accept USA players?
This subject is changing every day so we have developed a specific page that tracks US poker news.  You will see an Apple logo if they run on a Mac.

How do I play poker on a Mac?
To play poker on a Mac you must choose a Mac compatible poker site or either purchase Virtual PC software which enables you to run Windows based applications or you can play at free Mac online poker sites designed for Macs.  Dual booting on a Mac is also a possibility but costly because Windows must be purchased.

Can I use PowerPC, Intel, or Mac OS9.X to play poker online?
Yes but if you are having problems then you should download the latest version of Java Runtime from Apple.com.  After doing so you also must enable your Mac to run Java Applets.  Simply click on Settings and then Java to enable.

I’m having problems downloading a certain poker site.  Why?
Because not every site is Mac compatible.  When you hover over the ‘download’ button does it end in .exe?  If so it is not Mac compatible.  Check our list of Mac compatible rooms, or look for the Mac version on that particular poker site to see if they offer a Mac version or an instant play option.

How do I right click on my Mac?
A right click process can be completed by holding down the Ctrl button and clicking the mouse.  On many casinos this can be used to remove casino chips from the table.  You can also change your mini mouse settings but it should be a simple right click these days.

What are the system requirements for my desired Mac poker room and how do I get the free Java, Safari, or Internet Explorer software and browsers?
In our poker room reviews we give specific requirements for your Mac.  Each poker site is different so please read the reviews.  Generally Firefox or Safari is sufficient.

Can I play at Party Poker on a Mac?
Previously the answer was no but now Party Poker has a Java and download based program that WILL run on Macs.  Please see the Mac Party Poker review for the download source.  Please note, Party does not allow US players.

I have an Intel chip in my Mac.  How do I dual boot to play poker?
We have added all the steps for dual booting if you have the new Intel Macs.  Click here.  Be forewarned, Dual Booting can cause damage to your computer.

I cant view any of the tables in the lobby using the no download software.  Why?
Try upgrading to the latest version of Java Plug in.  Also try clearing your cache, also known as your temporary internet files.

How am I supposed to clear my cache?
For Mac OS X Safari: On the Safari browser tool bar you will see the link Safari.  Click on it and you will see a drop down menu and an option that allows you to “Empty Cache”.  This should also speed up your computer.

For Internet Explorer: Click “Tools” on the upper menu bar, then “Internet Options”.  Pick the “General” tab.  In the Temporary Internet Files option hit “Delete Files”.  Also click the box that says “Delete offline content” when it appears.  Hit ok.

The previous hands still show up and it appears grey.  Why?
You do not have the latest version of Java Plug In.  Download it from Java.com

What is Virtual PC or a PC Emulator?
This software creates compatibility for Mac computers and software that is Windows based.  It can be quite sluggish and the technology really isn’t necessary for playing poker on Macs unless you really, really want to play a non-supported Mac site and can’t afford Windows for a dual boot.  I use Parallels and dread when I have to switch over to Windows.

Do I need Virtual PC software to play poker on my Mac?
No.  View our Macintosh OS X Poker list to choose a site that has Mac compatible software.

Are there any Mac poker rooms that have a downloadable software?
Yes.  They are basically all downloaded now, meaning they are not ‘in browser play’.  When hovering over any poker sites download link you will want it to end in .dmg.  These files are supported by Apple Macintosh.
