June 30

1:02am – The Committee vote for online gambling in California was supposed to be voted on yesterday. It was delayed citing that the bill needs more work and is not ready to be voted on.

June 28

1:52pm – The poor horseracing industry is finally starting to fight back against the UIGEA. Because of overblocking of credit cards due to the UIGEA to fund horse bets, there is now a new bill that would clarify “illegal internet gambling” and define horseracing as not illegal under the 1961 Wire Act. They went simple with naming this new bill, “The Wire Clarification Act”. Well, considering Poker and Casino games are also not defined as illegal under the Wire Act, maybe they should define them as NOT illegal as well! How about renaming it to something like, “The Real, Non Corrupt, Wire Clarification Act”.

June 18

10:18pm – As you can see by the lack of updates, theres been not much to report on. Bodog is still having troubles with depositing which must have really hurt them during the NBA Finals and this World Cup. Other casinos are also seeing a drop off in depositing with credit cards, and overall play is down. It’s perfectly normal for this time period with the WSOP and Summer, but we’ll still have to wait and see if the UIGEA is causing broader implications in the coming month. He talks about New Jersey’s consideration of legalizing online gaming and his prediction is that my state, Florida will be the first to legalize online poker. Florida is getting ready to set un-capped limits on poker by the end of the month.

June 11

5:25pm – J. Todd discusses the recent reports about how the Nevada Gaming Control Board is warning Nevada casinos to steer clear of online gambling sites. Meanwhile Harrah’s just so happens to be pushing for more lobbying for internet gambling in the US. The US part starts in the second half. Also, I finished the numbers to compare before the June 1, UIGEA and one week after the June 1, UIGEA. Really no changes whatsoever, the chart is above you in section VIII of this page.

June 2

9:49am – As expected there are some reports coming in with people having problems depositing via credit cards (VISA) at Pokerstars and some echeck problems as well. Due to their regular coding of transactions this was inevitable.

Also as I stated earlier, we need to wait at least a week to see changes. From what I was told, many casinos and poker sites will fund your account with money, before it is actually withdrawn. So what could look like a successful deposit, may actually get denied. The casino or poker room will monitor that initial deposit to see how the player reacts ie: if they deposit and don’t play with the money, something is not right…

June 1

1:42pm – I’ve been monitoring the poker forums and news outlets and so far there has been NO major outbreaks stemming from the UIGEA passage today. So far so good, but it will be good to monitor for the next week or two before we get to cheerful. John Pappas of the PPA stated most ill affects of the UIGEA have already been implemented leading up to the 3 1/2 years it took for this day to come.
