Play loose to get aggressive

When you’re having trouble getting any action at the table you need to move to a more loose or aggressive style.  Prepare to show some bluffs and spice up the table.

Poker isn’t necessarily getting away with a big bluff.  It is hard to win money if you never get any callers.  Players will begin to pay off your bets when they see that you are playing loose.  This will help you in the long run making your big hands pay off.

Why you should not play online poker like you see on TV…

So often you see online poker players playing extremely aggressive. A lot of times this stems down from people watching poker on TV. In a recent interview done with Mike Matusou done by Full Tilt Poker Mike stated that online poker players play way too aggressive. Because so many people play so aggressive you have to adjust your style.

The reason it is not advantageous to play like you see the pros on TV is that 90% of online poker players are suckers and they won’t understand any advanced bluffs or moves. Trying to out bluff a bad poker player will only end up in a lost bank roll and you wondering, “How the hell did he call that.”

Poker pros on TV understand pot odds, and when they can and can’t call and why they really should fold or call. Players online just see top pair and go to the end of the world with it. While you may get a pro to fold top pair by betting very big, an amateur will call you every day.

Another reason that you should not play like the pros on TV when playing cash games is that most of the time the blinds are very high on TV. They are fighting for the blinds where as in the online cash games the blinds stay steady. This is one reason that forces the pros on TV to make extremely aggressive moves and why it will lead you down the tubes in cash games online.

Playing a tight style with aggression with your big pairs will reward you much more than an overly aggressive style when playing online. Of course, playing in higher stakes and against other pros while playing online might force you to play a more aggressive style.
