| Poker Pros Head for March Charity Events The month of March is full of poker tournaments and exciting events, but poker professionals across the board are not forgetting to give a little of themselves by attending a couple of worthy charity events along the way.
Several top industry stars have found some time in their busy schedules to attend these happenings and bring some cheer to the less fortunate. One of the most important charity poker events in March is a $300 no-limit Texas Hold ‘em tournament in aid of the Leo Brien Foundation – set up to assist cancer sufferers. The proceeds of this event will help fund Camp Okizu, a retreat for children who are battling with cancer. The tournament, due to take place on March 8th, will be hosted by poker pro Todd Brunson, son of the legendary Doyle Brunson and a WSOP bracelet winner in his own right.
Other stars who will attend this event are Roy “the Oracle” Winston (twice winner of the World Poker Tour championship), and winners of World Series of Poker bracelets, Mark Seif, Cindy “Peace, Love and Poker” Violette and Hoyt Corkins. Matt Savage, the world’s foremost Poker Tournament Director who has directed over 350 televised poker events in his career, will emcee the occasion.
Besides the exciting poker action due to take place at the event, there will also be a silent auction hosted by Triumph Sports, as well as a live auction where participants can bid for must-have poker memorabilia and an autographed NFL jersey by Joe Montana. Limited art editions of Life’s A Bluff will also be up for grabs.
The event will take place at 2 pm. in the CMT Office Building in Santa Clara and is open to the public. There is a recommended donation of $300 and a $100 add-on free, payable at the door. Participants will receive an autographed photograph of Todd Brunson and other sponsored gifts upon registering for the tournament.
Poker stars will also be found on the golf fields on the morning of the Leo Brien Poker event, as they take part in the second annual Udayakumar Nguyen Charity Golf Match at the Coyote Creek Golf Course in San Jose. Again, this event will be hosted by Matt Savage and all proceeds of the day will go to charity. After lunch, all poker fans and professionals will head for Santa Clara for the planned poker tournament. All are invited.
