| Asian Poker Tour Sets 2008 Schedule The Philippines is the starting point for this year’s Asian Poker Tour which is set to kick off on the 27th of May.
The planners of the event have not held back and have jammed packed the 2008 tournament’s calendar with four exciting and challenging events. This year’s tournament hopes to be the biggest and best there has been to date.
Poker players from around the world will be flocking to Asia to try and grab some of the guaranteed $1 million prize which is being offered at each leg of the tournament. The tournament begins on the 27th May in the Philippines until the 1st June. Similar events are scheduled in Asia’s gambling capital of Macau, South Korea, and Singapore for the closing event. Final dates and venues for the other three events are still to be announced.
The Asian Poker Tour is Asia’s biggest and original poker tour and was recently acquired by ESL-Asia, a Manila based subsidiary of AsianLogic. This year’s tour will have four events which will guarantee a $1 million prize pool in each, and is aiming to attract both live players and online players via satellite tournaments. The buy-ins for the main events will be $2,500.
The world-class tournament that will begin is Manila is expected to attract about 500 players. Six action packed days will eventually determine who will grab the bulk of the $1 million prize pool. The buy-in of $2,500 will be wavered for a few lucky online players who stand in line to win an all-expenses paid trip to the tournament. Similar deals are expected to be in line for players wishing to attend the other three events.

Interest in poker has been growing in Asia over the past years and the organizers of the poker tournament are fully aware of this potential. It has been hinted that next year’s tournament will grow from four to six events. |
